"Wicked" Asks the Question To What End? The Purpose of Our Relationships!
Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Their friendship causes them to face their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard’s corrupt government and ultimately, Elphaba’s public fall from grace. The plot is set mostly before Dorothy’s arrival from Kansas and includes several references to well-known scenes and dialogue in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as a back-story.
Wicked will be running here on Broadway for the next 50 or so years and on tour in the Phoenix metro area at Tempe’s Gammage Auditorium throughout the month of July, 2009. It also continues to be a huge hit in London and around the world. Find out if Wicked is coming to your area and check this musical out by calling me here at Applause. In the meantime, I wanted to share the lyrics to a song from Wicked. The song is sung between Elphaba and Glinda, just before the finale.
Watch a video of Kristin Chenoweth singing this song in concert. Gorgeous!

For Good
(Elphaba) I’m limited
Just look at me – I’m limited.
And just look at you
You can do all I couldn’t do, Glinda.
So now it’s up to you
For both of us – now it’s up to you…
(Glinda) I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
(Elphaba) It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend…
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a sky bird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
(Glinda)
Because I knew you
(Both) I have been changed for good
I ask forgiveness
For the thing I’ve done you blame me for
(Glinda) But then, I guess we know
There’s blame to share
(Both) And none of it seems to matter anymore
(Glinda) Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
(Elphaba)Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood
Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
Changed for the better
(Glinda)And because I knew you…
(Elphaba) Because I knew you…
(Both)Because I knew you…
I have been changed for good.

Wicked on Broadway -Still an All-Time Favorite of Mine
If you haven't had a chance to see Wicked in New York, this amazing story tells us about the Wicked Witch of the West called Elphaba (played by Nicole Parker) and her nemesis, Glinda, The Good Witch (played by Alli Mauzey). In short, Wicked is really the untold musical story of The Wizard of Oz, before Dorothy dropped in so to speak. A "pre-quel" to The Wizard of Oz. The show is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory McGuire with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Joe Mantello directs this fantastic show.
In 2004 Wicked was nominated for 10 Tony Awards. The show has a great cast of characters with spectacular scenic design and musical staging by Eugene Lee and Wayne Cilento, lighting by Kenneth Posner and costumes by Susan Hilferty. Wicked's musical score ranges from contemporary to theatrical with many of them becoming quite memorable for a long time to come. The show is 2 and 1/2 hours long with one intermission and there's a cool souvenir stand in the lobby across from the box office.
As I mentioned previously, Wicked is a big ticket seller on Broadway. It has all the talent both on stage and off stage with a unique story and great musical theater fun. A truly unique piece of theater. I think it will play New York's Gershwin Theater for many more year to come.
Right now if you think you may want to see Wicked on Broadway, you can simply contact the friendly ticket experts at Applause in New York. They are licensed by the State of New York Department of Licensing and have been in business for 21 years now. They know the show, the seating chart, the best seats for the best price and even where to grab a bite before the theater. Could you ask for anything more...

Wicked Tickets in NYC-Need dinner suggestions?
There are many places to have a great meal at prior to seeing Wicked. Since my wife and I eat out allot, I thought I would give you 2 suggestions, both close to the theater.
First, you might want to consider making a reservation at our new favorite restaurant. It's a very special place called Taboon. Taboon is a very special midtown restaurant specializing in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. Taboon is located at 773 Tenth Avenue at 50th Street. They have wonderful "hot from the taboon" breads, that go hand in hand with specially prepared "hummus". In addition they have about a dozen terrific entrees at "mid range prices". The decor is stylish yet subdued enough top match its 10th Avenue location. The food and service at Taboon are fantastic and I can just hear the "thank you" calls from customers we suggest this dining establishment to. This place is a real treat friends. Their local phone number is 212-713-0271.
My other suggestion is right next door to Wicked, for those of you that have a desire to be very close to the theatre. The Palm (one of 3 in New York City) is a great choice and literally across the street from Wicked. The Palm is a steakhouse that also has wonderful tasting seafood dishes, especially the fantastic Lobster dishes they serve. The Palm resembles a fast paced business person's place yet has exceptional service. The atmosphere is a bit "old style" complete with many a New York "chariciture" of famous celebrities on all the walls. Fun to look at folks. Their phone number is 212-333-7256 and they are located at 250 West 50th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue.
If you need tickets at reasonable prices for Wicked in New York and a great meal to make your trip to Broadway complete, don't hesitate to give the friendly ticket experts at Applause a call. They can be reached at 212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930 seven days a week, all year long. They love theater and really know lots of great places to have a really good meal.
Just think about how you'll be able to brag to your friends that you got great seats to Wicked and had a great meal to boot. It's fun getting people excited about seeing Broadway Shows and eating good food. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Check Out Our Wicked Ticket Sale In New York City
For over five years now, New York's most popular show has been Wicked on Broadway. Wicked is a new American musical that tells us the untold story of how the Wicked Witch of the West named Elphaba and Glinda the Good Witch (from the Wizard of Oz film of our childhood)both came to meet at "witches school". Just before Dorothy "dropped in" so to speak.
Wicked is based on the Gregory Macguire novel and the show tells us the journey of the girls "unique and unexpected" friendship and love for one another. The shows music and lyrics were written by Stephen Schwartz with book by Winnie Holzman. Joe Mantello directs and musical staging is by Wayne Cilantro. Marcie Dodd and Alli Mauzey play the lead characters Elphaba and Glinda and I must say, for all five years that Wicked has been on Broadway, this production is still playing to "sold out" audiences at most performances. It truly is one of the greatest shows of our time. I've seen it 3 times myself.
For a limited time only Applause Theatre Service, one of Broadway's officially licensed ticket agencies, is offering amazing seats at very reasonable prices. You can simply checkout our Wicked inventory or call us directly in New York City at
212-307-7050 or toll free at 800-451-9930. If you are considering purchasing 2 tickets or a group of 20 or more, I think you'll realize that doing business with a local trusted ticket expert is an experience you'll remember for a long time.
At Applause we don't just sell tickets. We provide the very best seating at the very best prices for Wicked as well as 24 other Broadway Shows. If your theater plans include seeing Wicked in New York City, now would be a great time to score some great seats at Applause's special Insider Prices. If you are considering another show or two, you can checkout our recently updated Broadway Show listing.
We are here to help you secure tickets to Wicked or even if you just want to talk theater. Should other people you know need some expert advice on Broadway tickets or anything in New York City, we are "at your service" seven days a week, 365 days a year.
We hope to hear from you in the near future.
